Welcome to the Venice Area Quilt Guild!
Our 2009 - 2010 Guild Directory is in the editing stage and will be going to the printer in a few weeks. If you have not sent in your renewal form and check, you won't be in the directory and you will not have the new password to see newsletters online.
Summer is here and there are many of us around the Venice area. If you are bored and looking for something to do, we have lots of quilting opportunities!
Check the Calendar page for our Summer Schedule. There are informal workshops scheduled twice each month. We will be working on Boutique items and Head Start Quilts. Mary Johnson often has apron kits available too. I plan to bring the quilting frame when there is no project planned. New members are welcome to stop by and join us.
Several Circles have moved their meeting to the quilting frame and open Tuesdays have started at my home. Besides me, three others have tried hand quilting. Good instructions can be found in the book “Hand Quilting with Alex Anderson” which is available at our Sarasota County Libraries. Many of our wonderful local quilt shops offer summer classes. Summer is a great time to shop if you need extra help.
The Friendship Knot Quilters Guild of Sarasota meets all year and guests are welcome. Their classes are open to non-members. More information is on their website www.friendshipknotquiltersguild.com. If you missed their 2009 Quilt Show, you can see all of the quilts on their website.
